Web developers working on the Amazon's cloud work space are excited thanks to a new tool that will make it easier to work remotely, share files, and have online meetings without having to go through the arduous process of setting up this infrastructure manually.
The world-wide technology firm TeamViewer has recently announced that it's listed on the AWS Marketplace for desktop applications, a move that is sure to expand the reach of a company that has already had its apps activated on more than 1.3 billion devices.
The AWS Marketplace is a subscription based service for Amazon WorkSpaces customers. As for Amazon Workspaces, this is a completely managed and secure work space that works with the Amazon Web Services cloud computing platform. This announcement is significant as it means that Amazon Workspaces users can benefit from TeamViewer's remote access and support.
TeamViewer is a global leader in remote collaboration and digital networking. The company was founded in 2005 in Goppingen, Germany. Currently the company employs 700 professionals who are based in more than 50 different countries.
The IT firm's flagship product is a comprehensive solution for remote support, remote access, and online group meetings. Of the 400 million devices that have TeamViewer installed, approximately 25 million have the program open and running simultaneously at any one given time.
Other products in the company's portfolio include apps for IT monitoring, data backup and retrieval, anti spyware/malware programs, web conferencing apps and more. The global investment firm Permira acquired the company for a large sum in 2014, however the corporate and R&D structure of the German technology firm remains intact.
The Advantages of Amazon Workspaces
Whereas other more 'conventional' on-premise VDIs (Virtual Desktop Infrasructures) require that developers go out of their way to deploy and manage an intricate environment, AWS offers these same developers a much more secure and completely managed solution right-out-of-the-box.
It is a turnkey solution for cloud-based DevOps, and with AWS developers can deliver quality desktop and mobile apps to their users. The Amazon Workspace Marketplace is a place where AWS customers con select and deploy the apps of their choosing with a monthly subscription model.
TeamViewer Remote Support
TeamViewer's remote support allows WorkSpaces customers to resolve issues quickly and efficiently. This innovative software product (which handles desktop sharing, online meetings, web conferencing and file transfer) allows team members and collaborators to work on projects together no matter what device they are using or where they are in the world.
TeamViewer's Vice President of business development Alfredo Patron promises that the integration of his company's product with Amazon WorkSpaces will help businesses of all sizes become more agile in the current cloud based environment without having to spend exorbitant time and money on lengthy procurement cycles.
